Sankisa
lies 47 kms from Farrukhabad, in central Uttar Pradesh. There is a belief
that Buddha, along with Lord Brahma and Devraj Jndra descended after giving
sermons to His mother in heaven. At this spot, stands a temple with a statue
of Buddha. A temple dedicated to Bisari Devi, an excavated Ashokan pillar
and a colossal Shivalinga also stand here. A large fair is held here in the
month of Shravan (July -August).  |
